The Wisdom of the Enneagram This fascinating self-determined personality system is often a helpful catalyst for understanding that other people are motivated by different emotions and desires than we are. An excellent book for couple's or family members stuck in stubborn and stale patterns.

Undefended Love This is one of my favorite books. The authors succinctly describe the self-defense mechanisms that we create and sustain in order to protect ourselves from imagined injury. A must read for couples stuck in an impasse.

Lying on the Couch: A Novel Written by one of the "gods" of group therapy, Yalom takes us on a romp through the life of a therapist. A great read for therapists and clients who wonder what it's like to be a therapist. Yalom's main character is a bit of a "bumbler" yet delightfully human. Overall a rather fun read.

Dialogue : The Art Of Thinking Together I think this is a great book for anyone who is slightly afraid of conflict but really needs to find ways to be assertive at the work place. Assertiveness can lead to better clarity and production as well as advancement. This book helps the reader understand that having "difficult" conversations can often be quite rewarding.

The Female Brain A fascinating look at the life cycle of the female brain from birth ("baby girls will connect emotionally in ways that baby boys don't") to menopause. I like this book because it provides an easy to understand biological explanation for some of the differences in the ways that women and men most commonly think and communicate.

The Male Brain In this utterly fascinating follow-up to her bestselling The Female Brain, Harvard neuropsychiatrist Brizendine leads readers through the lifespan of a man's brain, using lively prose and personable anecdotes to turn complex scientific research into a highly accessible romp. I think that this is a great book for starting to understand the basics of male behavior. My only criticism of the book would be that she doesn't fully explain the broad variations of biology and gender expression that occurs within each sex.
