Motivation

Motivation is a state of mind that calls us into action. One of the best ways infuse new life into your motivation is to create desires. We are often afraid to define our wants and desires.  But when we are able to successfully figure out what we want we activate a crucial inner drive that is present in all of us. Motivation plays an important role in helping us reach our fullest intellectual, emotional, relational and professional potential.  Motivation is the path that most often leads us to personal and financial prosperity.

Career Change

One of the greatest indicators of longevity is job satisfaction.  How unfortunate that studies consistently indicate that over sixty percent of Americans feel “trapped” in jobs or careers that they find unsatisfactory.  Too often we remain mesmerized by our fears and worries which often function  to post pone our pursuits of our desires.  We often get stuck in a pattern of “if only” or “when I have...”  Business expert Dan Nichols cites “Imposter Syndrome” as one of the greatest barriers to career change.  He states,  “We don’t believe we are, so we don’t believe we can. We become something when we believe we can do something.”

Conflict Management

For many people the expression of anger is synonymous with inappropriate displays of violence and coercion and so we are often conditioned to strongly avoid conflict. Conflict in the workplace is especially frightening for many of us. However, when we are able to recognize that the appropriate expression of anger often serves as a catalyst to productive change we can learn to manage the uncomfortable feelings to arise when we actively challenge notions that don’t seem to work for us.

Goals

One of the greatest barriers to goal completion comes when we fail to clearly define a goal.  I often have individuals come to my office who state, “I just want to be happy”.  Unfortunately “happiness” is not a very definable goal--it is a feeling.  “I want VIP tickets to the next F1 race” is a much more obtainable and definable goal.
